Richard Lee Shobe, age 82, of Valparaiso, Indiana passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, May 11, 2012. He was born, May 2, 1930 in Rochester, Indiana. Richard was a retired millwright from Bethlehem Steel with 28 years of service and an Army Veteran. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Helen (Barnett) Shobe and his brother DeForrest Wayne Shobe. Richard is survived by his wife, Marilyn of 57 years; one daughter, Sandra Lee (Pete) Hartman, two grandchildren, Michael and Stephanie, and many other relatives and friends. Richard was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Master Masons of Valparaiso #137, Orak Shrine (The Temple Guard), and life member of Scottish Rite in South Bend, Indiana, Moose Lodge of Valparaiso #1357, American Legion of Valparaiso Post #94 and V.F.W. of Valparaiso Post #988. Visitation will be held on Wednesday May 16, 2012 from 3-8 PM at Bartholomew Funeral Home, 102 Monroe Street, Valparaiso, Indiana, with Masonic Rites at 7 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 17 at 11:00 AM at Bartholomew Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Spangler officiating . Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso, Indiana.
