Eugene F. “Gene” Price, age 81, of Valparaiso, passed away Monday, July 9, 2012 at VNA Hospice Center after a battle with cancer. He was born on September 11, 1930 to Edward and Hester Price. His parents, as well as his brother, Kenneth Price, preceded him in death. On November 2, 1952, he married Helen Hall, who survives, along with three children: Michael (Marie) Price of Hebron, Gail (John) Wehner of Hebron and Lynn (Jeffrey) Burns of Valparaiso; seven grandchildren; Mathieu Price, Amanda Price, John (Amber) Egli, Justin (Melissa) Burns, Jason (Amanda) Burns, Jessica (Angel) Valencia and Joshua (Fiancé Katie Hanely) Burns and seven great grandchildren: Alex, Madison, Lucas, Jodie, Jaydon, Jessalynn and Julianna. After graduating from Valparaiso High School in 1948, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1954 during the Korean War aboard the U.S.S. Boxer. Eugene retired after 40 years of grain and dairy farming in Morgan Township. He was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Valparaiso. He was also a Farm Bureau member and a member of the American Legion. Gene was a quiet man who was fond of camping and traveled much with his wife, family and friends. Visitation will be held Sunday, July 15, 2012 2-6 PM at Bartholomew Funeral Home, 102 Monroe St. Valparaiso. Funeral Services will be held Monday, July 16, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Bartholomew Funeral Home, Pastor Ed Buttons and Pastor Denver Ayres officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church, 2205 N.
